Simon ‘Bad Boy’ Baker 1st Dan

Simon started training when he was 12 years old back in 1988 under Sensei Steve Earl when their dojo was based at the Rugby Club near Seaford seafront.
He passed his 1st Dan black belt at the age of 16 in 1992. At the time he was one of the youngest black belts at Seaford Karate Club.
Simon has a very sporty background, he has practised Tai Chi, played Cricket for Newhaven and been the Captain for Seaford Rugby Club where he has spent many years, playing and coaching.
Simon works as a Landscape gardener for Wynne’s Home and Garden Centre in Seaford where he has been for over 25 years.
After a break from Karate both his kids, Harry and Eleanor, wanted to take up martial arts and this saw Simon dig out his karate suit and he is now back assisting at the club.
His many years of karate training combined with his coaching experience and relaxed manner provide a huge contribution to the club and he is well respected by all the students.
Steve has always enjoyed the club’s ethos of training really hard – which he now passes on in his teaching to the younger karateka ensuring that the basic of karate are improved.
He is a regular member on the grading panel and his knowledge is highly valued in the club.
